I HAD to be DIFFERENT.

That's always more FUN!!

Just because giveaway

When this magazine came out a month or so ago....
Life was giving me some BIG events.

Now that I've been able to catch my breath...
I'd like to give a couple of magazines away!

I have a block that was included in this issue.
Can I share it with YOU????

and let us all know what you'll be doing for vacation.
It's summer in MY part of the world.
I hope to do some camping
or should I say...
Glamping in my trailer!!!

I also have TWO children making BIG moves this summer.
so...
I'll be helping out a little.
My son has his first REAL job after college
teaching in Arizona
AND..
My daughter will be moving to El Paso
with her husband who will be stationed there.
(He's an Occupational therapist in the army)

When adult children are experiencing change
in their lives...
MOM FEELS IT!

Thanks for stopping by this corner of blogland.
I'll choose two winners on Friday.
GOOD LUCK!!

+++++++++++++++++

P.S.
I was so surprised to see one of my little quilts
in the Quilt Alliance instagram feed last week!

And..
It was in a publication!
Fun. FUN!

Friday

What do YOU see when you spy vintage linens??

I see POSSIBILITY!

I see little zipper bags.
I see aprons.
I see BIG zipper bags.  :)
I see pillow shams....
I see......

I also see QUILTS!

Add a little vintage linen to a little quilt...
You have
beauty and FUNCTION!!!

I"m taking my new zipper bag to a sewing day today.
I haven't been to quilt with a group of quilters for TOO TOO  long!!!

Happy sewing friends!
Hope you're enjoying summer
and ALL that summer brings!

Monday Making

This quilt celebrates my LOVE of scraps.

It contains BLUE and quite a few plaids and stripes.
(as in old shirts!)
I DO love re-purposing.

I'm calling this quilt  "HIGH TIDE".
The pattern is based on the classic disappearing 4 patch.
Instead of all squares, I used some rectangles.
I was even able to print up a pattern
and get it in my shop!
That's something to be excited and nervous about.
:)

I backed this one with some chunks of blue and tan.

Don't you love interesting BACKS???

Starry night

Once in a while....

a LONELY quilt top
finds a new home.

This one needed to GROW to be full size.

It was a challenge finding JUST the right fabrics
to compliment the center quilt.

Thankfully....
I found some fabrics that I'm really happy with.
I opted for SIMPLE border strips.

Hey!
I EVEN attempted Mitered corners on that last border
and did an O.K. job of it!!!

Next up...
I'll have to figure out how I'm going to quilt this big one!
Wish me LUCK!

Monday Making

This week I hope to GROW a quilt top.
It's been in my quilt top pile for a while
and NOW is the time!!

I had a special request for THIS quilt
and it needs to be adjusted to FULL size.

I had just a bit of trouble finding some matching fabric
for the border in my stash...
(amazing, but true)
so OFF to the fabric store I went.
Sticker SHOCK is what I got.!!

I don't buy fabric often enough to
appreciate how much it costs!!
;)

Maybe it's because
I bought THREE different fabrics
since I couldn't decide on ONE!
LOL!

Monday Making

I spent some time making little half square triangles last night.
This week I hope to make a few more of these blocks
for a quilting guild exchange.

The pressure is ON when making blocks for quilters!!
:)

As you can see....
I'm using super OLD fabric.
The past couple of years I've been trying
to use ONLY what I already possess.

I possess a LOT.

Thankfully...
my LOVE is scrap quilting....
so it works.

Friday

I was very happy to get this quilt OFF of my to do list this week!

It's always a challenge just getting a quilt sandwiched together....
right??
Once the layers were ready...

I put my feed dogs down.....
and I began making lines with little HILLS here and there.
I love simple quilting patterns!
:)

I have ONE MORE quilt to finish before graduation day!!!

Wish me luck!

I will also HOPEFULLY make a backing for this quilt

Monday Making

These lovely spring blocks are in the newest
published by Quiltmaker!

Except.....

The block in the magazine looks like this!
:)

When I designed the block it was FALL!!

I thought a FALL BLOOM was appropriate...
but NOW I'm thinking the happy spring colors
are BEST!

I think this is my favorite arrangement of the block.

I might be thumbing though this newest magazine this week...
looking for some inspiration!!!

Monday Making

It seems to be "finishing time"
at my house!
Lots of finishes in a short amount of time.
I began this little vest a few months ago
and FINALLY got up the nerve to stitch it together
and add that ribbing!!
It's the type of knitting, for me, that takes some quiet
and concentration!
;)

I found that fun multi colored yarn (one ball)
and knew I wanted to make something for baby or toddler.
This vest pattern worked out great!

Details:
The pattern uses a fair isle pattern I did NOT follow
since my yarn had multi colors
*blue cotton yarn (from my stash) for the ribbing
and...since I didn't have enough yarn for the whole thing...
I used a BEAUTIFUL
*Autumn Wind lotus yarn for the back.

Friday Finish

It's Friday...
already???!

I was able to get this great quilt top together for another
high school senior.

I LOVE this one and will be sad to give it away.

Working on it was just the therapy I needed this week.

I had to say goodbye to these little feet.
This little one was with us for 15 months.

Foster parenting usually involves a goodbye.
Thankful for family and friends who've been praying
and a God who has been with us through it all.

All the creative activities also really help me
as I get used to days without a baby.

I've said goodbye before and know that it's
SUPER hard in the beginning and gets easier as time goes on.

There is a GREAT need for foster parents!
I hope the "saying goodbye" part doesn't deter anyone from
a wonderful way to REACH out and LOVE children.

O.k.
Enough about NON-quilty stuff.
I'm going to go back and get that quilt finished up!!!
MENTAL HEALTH.......here I come!!!
