Monday Making

When I make a quilt for a young man...
I gravitate to these colors.

I also LOVE adding stripes and plaids.
I actually have a SPECIAL box at my house....
JUST for stripes and plaids.
It EVEN contains some hand-me-down shirts!

I seem to get hand me down fabric too!

This plaid backing was given to me a long time ago.
Who knew it would be JUST RIGHT for this quilt??

The binding is finally ON
and I can call this quilt DONE!

I LOVED making this one!

This quilt is going to be given to a graduating
high school senior.
I have been making and giving quilts
to the high school seniors of my church
for more that 15 years!
Often I organize sewing days for this project.....
but this year was so busy, I just worked on this alone.

What are YOU making this week??

  8. What a great quy quilt, perfect for a graduating senior. I'm still working on number three of 4 graduation quilts. But the end is in sight on number three.

  15. So many aspects to admire. Love the shirting mix; great value range. The white makes the rest pop. This quarter log cabin is a favorite block of mine, especially with random logs. Simple quilting and striped binding are the perfect finishes.
    Thanks for linking with AHIQ.

  17. This is just what I like in a 'boy' quilt - love the colours, really like the stripes and plaids, and the fact that there are shirts in the mix. I think the fun you had making this shows in the end product too.

  19. Beautiful. I love seeing shirts get a new life in a quilt. So often quilts for men take on a dark look, but this just sparkles with those splashes of white and turquoise.

  20. That's a lovely quilt, so fresh and colourful. I think the cream/off-white background was inspired. I love the term 'hand-me-downs', I haven't heard it for such a long time! You had some great ones for this quilt :)

  22. Imagine my joy when I recognized your blocks! I just learned to make them for Covered in Love! You did a great job! Your layout is different from her examples and I love it! I'm always amazed at how the exact same blocks can look so different when we use different colors/layouts/sizes! Thank you so very much for sharing!
